SCAAVO hosts a Viticulture and Oenology Conference on new grape varieties, sparkling wines and winery investment grants

Next Wednesday, September 9, 2026, SCAAVO will host a new Winegrowing Conference in Mollina, focusing on some of the main challenges and opportunities currently facing the sector: the adaptation of vineyards to climate change, the study of new varieties, the production of sparkling wines, and grants for winery investments.
For more information and registration, please contact Jaime Carmona +34 608 100 271.

The conference will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the SCAAVO assembly hall, located at Avenida de América, 35, Mollina.

The event is organised by IFAPA, the Málaga Territorial Delegation of the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Regulatory Council of the Málaga, Sierras de Málaga and Pasas de Málaga Protected Designations of Origin, Mollina Town Council and our cooperative.

A morning dedicated to the present and future of Andalusian vineyards

Throughout the conference, researchers and industry professionals will address different areas of work related to viticulture and oenology in Andalusia.

The programme will begin with the institutional opening and continue with several presentations on:

  • The agronomic and oenological potential of minority grape varieties grown in Andalusia.
  • Grape varieties currently not authorised in Andalusia with potential for adaptation to warm conditions.
  • The characterisation and identification of varieties resulting from new surveys carried out in Andalusia.
  • The first results from the use of Bokashi amendments in vineyards.
  • The new call for Winery Investment Grants.
  • The production and ageing of sparkling wines and the possibilities for making use of traditional Andalusian winery infrastructure.

Sparkling wine tasting

One of the highlights of the conference will take place at 12:50 p.m., with a tasting of sparkling wines produced at the Rancho de la Merced and Cabra IFAPA centres.

Following the closing session, scheduled for 1:15 p.m., attendees will also be offered refreshments accompanied by Málaga and Sierras de Málaga wines.

At SCAAVO, we continue to work alongside institutions, researchers and professionals to bring our members and the wider sector new knowledge, tools and opportunities that contribute to the future of viticulture and our wineries.
